Cayo Levantado is a small island in the Bay of Samana. It is divided into two sections, the public beach, accessible to all, with services (restaurant, souvenirs, bars, massage on the beach, etc..) and the private sector of the luxurious hotel Gran Bahia Principe Cayo Levantado.

Cayo Levantado is a paradise island. For this reason, it was chosen for the construction of the hotel. Users of the public beach do not have access to the facilities in the private section of the hotel. Only customers of the Gran Bahia Principe Cayo Levantado have access to all the beaches on the island. To get to Cayo Levantado, you take a transfer by boat. There are two docks on the island to serve both areas of Cayo Levantado.

The Gran Bahia Principe Cayo Levantado has two private beaches of about 130 meters each. The sand is white and fine. The guests seem to better appreciate the western sector. The sea is calm in both places, there is a lifeguard. Facing the main beach of the hotel, there is a small island where you can enjoy snorkeling and explore the seabed and discover the pretty fish. The snorkeling equipment is included in your travel package (one hour per day).

The monokini is allowed on the beaches, but not around the pools of the Gran Bahia Principe Cayo Levantado. A sign clearly indicates you are not allowed. We were not bothered by sand fleas on the beaches of Cayo Levantado. Usually these creatures become ravenous for sunset.

For guests staying at the Gran Bahia Principe Cayacoa, you can go to the public beach of Cayo Levantado by boat from the hotel beach. The cost is $ 25 for four hours. For customers of the Gran Bahia Principe Cayo Levantado, there is a lobby and a private dock with services for the transfer by speedboat to the island. It takes about five minutes. The visit of the public beach of Cayo Levantado is included in the tour « Cayo Levantado and Parque Nacional Los Haitises » which includes a lunch and few hours of beach time.

Cayo Levantado is also known as Bacardi Island because his palms resemble those in the advertising for Bacardi rum. Because of the popularity of the public beach of this island, hundreds of tourists visit the island every day from cruise passengers.
